Sr. Manufacturing Engineer


Work location: Carlsbad, CA, Richmond. Canada.

 
This position is to support New Product Introduction processes, Product Marketing, Operations and Contract manufacturing suppliers to ensure NTGR products are manufacturable at minimum cost and meet NTGR quality requirements and on time delivery.

 
Responsibilities
  • Manage NPI process at NTGR and Contract Manufacturing. Manage product transitions from NPI to production ramp up.
  • Review new products for DFM and DFT and resolve non-compliance with NTGR Product/Design Engineering
  • Support contract manufacturing to resolve manufacturing yield, tooling, test, material, process and bone pile issues.
  • Develop and document manufacturing processes and test strategy at NTGR and NTGR suppliers.
  • Review assembly and test quote from Contract Manufacturing for new products and quarterly product cost review.
  •  Support Product cost reduction thru process improvements & automation in contract manufacturing.
  • Create new part numbers, BOM structure, generate ECO, MCO and maintain the production configurations in product life cycle.
  • Manage the product/process/material/tool change implementation in suppliers and support new process/material/tool validation or approval.
  • Manage the capacity in supplier including tooling/equipment, new purchase and rental program.
  • Manage product identifier (MAC, MEID,…), label and product SKU change. 
  • Participate in the new supplier qualification process.
  • Provide the tooling/equipment budgeting for production ramp up per forecast.
  • Tracking the KPI to measure and manage the manufacturing process performance in Contract Manufacturing. Participate the QBR with other operational/functional teams.
  • Participate the periodic meetings with internal groups or Contract   
  •     Manufacturing: (New SKU release meeting, Core team meeting, NPI forecast meeting & technology roadmap, CFT meeting with contract manufacturing)

 

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience for Manufacturing Engineering activities with the experience in  electronics manufacturing industry for high volume products.
  • Thorough understanding of product configuration management practices (BOMs, specifications, ECR/ECO/MCO, part numbers, rules of interchangeability).
  • Detailed understanding of PCBA assembly and manufacturing engineering processes.  ( IQC, SMT, product test, DFM, DFT, SPC.)
  • Must have exceptional skill at organizing tasks and efficiently managing their time.  Reliable performance is critical.
  • Must be able to provide exceptional quality and productivity.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills. Mandarin language is plus.
  • An BS/MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or Electronics Technology is required.
  • International travel is required (approx. quarterly).
  • Experience working with TW or Chinese CMs or ODMs is required.
